     China's President Hu Jintao during last year visit to Macau gave 5 lessons for the Special Administrative Region.
     Political analysts consider that the 5 points are the guidelines for the Macau government in the next years.

Susana Chou

Susana Chou


Susana Chou, born in China in December 1941, obtained her bachelor’s degree in physics at the University of Anhui, China and completed a French language course in Paris, France.

 

Prior to her political career Susana Chou was a garment and textil entrepeneur in companies such as  Novel Enterprises Limited and  Macau Textile Limited.

 

In 1976, Susana Chou was successfully elected to the 1st term of the Legislative Assembly of Macao by direct election. She was member of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th terms of the Legislative Assembly of Macao from 1984 to 1999, member of the Working Committee of the Legislative Assembly and the Committee on Rules and Statutes of the 5th and 6th terms of the Legislative Assembly. 

In 1999 was elected President of the 1st term of the Legislative Assembly of the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR). I

In 2001 and 2005, she was re-elected President of the 2nd and 3rd terms of the Legislative Assembly.

She was member of the 8th, 9th and 10th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC); member of the Standing Committee of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC; member of the Drafting Committee of the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region; Vice-President of the Basic Law Promotional Association of Macao; Vice-President of the Preparatory Committee of the MSAR; member of the Economic Council of the Macao Government; President of the Board of Directors of World Trade Centre Macao; and the Honorary Consul of France in Macao.

She was awarded various medals by the Government of Portugal, France and Macao, namely, the Commander Degree of the Medal of Agriculture and Industrial Merit by the President of the Republic of Portugal in 1983, the Medal of the Knight of National Order of Merit by the President of the Republic of France and the Medal of Industrial and Commercial Merit by the Governor of Macao in 1994, the Medal of Bravery by the Governor of Macao and the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit by the President of the Republic of Portugal in 1999, the Knight of the Legion of Honour by the President of the Republic of France in 2002, the Medal of Honour Great Lotus by the Chief Executive of Macao SAR in 2004, and the Officer of the National Order of the Legion of Honour by the President of the Republic of France in 2007.

She retire from the presidency of the Legislative Assemvbly of Macau in 2009.
